Shot a button buck on opening morning @ 60yds. 8 a.m. Dulany Tract of Blackbird State Forest Stand #38. Saw 2 does and a spike buck in same stand later that morning 10 a.m. It's a QDM area and neither doe presented a shot. The tenderloins and backstraps were delicious! The rest was ground for chilli or made into jerky.

Sounds like a pretty good spot for state land. Nothing like tender young deer to fill the freezer! Monday is the first day of the 2 day gun season here in PA so hopefully my freezer will be filling up as well! Any good recipe on the jerky? I have been keeping my eye out for a good smoker to start making my own bologna, sausage and jerky but haven't found the bargain I am looking for.

Not picture worthy. I have a circular hydrater that I use. First batch I made I used Lowrey's Sesame Ginger marinade. Kept it on for 12 hrs and it turned out pretty good. Gonna try some different marinades and rubs. Will keep you updated.

Good deal. I am going to try some goose jerky in the next couple weeks so hopefully will have some good results to tell the group. Good luck tomorrow!
